The AC Receiver Drier is used specifically on AC systems which have Expansion Valves and typically looks like enclosed metal capsules. They will have an inlet and and outlet, as is the case with most AC components. These are located on the high pressure side of the system, usually between the condenser outlet and the expansion valve inlet.
The main function of the Receiver Drier is to receive and help store some of the liquid refrigerant coming from the condenser. It typically stores the most oil and refrigerant in times of low use, when the AC system is not being used much. It is important to know the size of your Receiver Drier, meaning the length and diameter as well as the size and type of ports.
